Single Source Upward and Downward Profile Calibration Stand for the Workhorse Sentinel

The WH-1 Calibration Stand is designed to hold all Workhorse Sentinel ADCPs at a stable 15 degree tilt for calibration procedures.

It is a versatile single source calibration stand designed to perform both upward profile or downward profile calibrations by simply placing the Teledyne RD Instruments Work horse Sentinel up or down in the stand. The result of this smooth motion calibration equates to improved overall standard deviation for the desired minimum error factors (less than 1 degree) for more consistent HARD and SOFT Iron calibrations. This equates to more accurate data collection from your ADCP. 

Light weight and portable, the WH-1 model is easy to ship to the worksite allowing for best scenario hard and soft iron compass calibration as close to the deployment location as is possible.

Our design can be used as a free standing device on the ground, or mounted on an optional Non-magnetic Tripod to allow you to calibrate off the ground and at a more comfortable working height.

 A Clear Benefit of Calib Designs Calibration Stands:

Over the course of an ADCP deployment, the battery packs will change their magnetic alignment as the voltage drops over time. The effect of this change is an increase in the overall error evident when a post calibration check is performed and compared to the pre calibration done prior to deployment. The best way to minimize the impact this change in magnetic alignment will have on the data set, is to improve on the calibration performed when new batteries are installed.

Stability of the instrument during the calibration process, as well as a non-magnetic calibration site, is paramount to getting the lowest overall error value. Starting with the lowest overall error at the beginning of a deployment will minimize the impact of the magnetic change throughout the deployment. The resulting data sets collected will therefore be more accurate.

Our calibration stands offer the best way to maintain the stability of the ADCP throughout the calibration process. Calib Designs goal was to come up with designs that combined vertical stability with a smooth horizontal rotation. The LR-1 and WH-1 Calibration Stands are proven results of this achieved goal.
